Restorative and Comprehensive Procedures
At Long lake family Dentistry we treat the whole family with complete comprehensive care. It is our belief that a healthy and long-lasting smile is the result of ongoing preventative care.
Implants
Everyone deserves a beautiful smile. With the tremendous advances in esthetic dentistry, there’s no need for anything less. With dental implants, crowns and bridges, missing teeth can now be easily, comfortably, and permanently replaced.
Besides functioning properly, the ideal replacement must look like a natural tooth, both to you and others. The solutions possible with implants and all ceramic crowns take advantage of the best esthetic tools possible in dentistry. Ceramic crowns and bridges look amazing and function like your natural teeth, they are nearly indistinguishable from your real teeth.

Root Canals/Endodontics
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly damaged or becomes infected. Dr. Jalali removes the inflamed or infected pulp, carefully cleans and shapes the inside of the canal, then fills and seals the space. Afterwards, you will return to Dr. Jalali for placement of a crown to protect and restore the tooth to full function. Root Canal therapy is a treatment with a very high success rate and is designed to save a problem tooth. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.
Periodontal Therapy
Scaling and root planning is the most conservative and common treatment for periodontal disease. Scaling is the removal of tarter and plaque that attach to the tooth surfaces. The process most specifically targets the area below the gum line and along the root. Because plaque is more likely to stick to rough surfaces, the root surfaces are smoothed down in a process called root planing. Due to some discomfort with the process, a local anesthetic may be used.
Restorations
Restorations, or fillings, are the most common procedure in the dental office. Dr. Jalali prides himself in placing the most modern, bonded, tooth-colored restorations that provide you with chewing comfort and are aesthetically life-like. Restorations are generally done in one office visit and can preserve a tooth that has been affected by decay or a minor fracture, arresting the process and avoiding the potential loss of the tooth.
Dentures
If you’ve lost all of your natural teeth, whether from periodontal disease, tooth decay or injury, complete dentures can replace your missing teeth and your smile. Replacing missing teeth will benefit your appearance and your health. Without support from the denture, facial muscles sag, making a person look older. You’ll be able to eat and speak—things that people often take for granted until their natural teeth are lost.
There are various types of complete dentures. A conventional full denture is made and placed in the patient’s mouth after the remaining teeth are removed and tissues have healed which may take several months. An immediate complete denture is inserted as soon as the remaining teeth are removed. Dr. Jalali takes measurements and makes models of the patient’s jaws during a preliminary visit. With immediate dentures, the denture wearer does not have to be without teeth during the healing period.
Even if you wear full dentures, you still must take good care of your mouth. Brush your gums, tongue and palate every morning with a soft-bristled brush before you insert your dentures to stimulate circulation in your tissues and help remove plaque.
Extractions
Extractions are performed in different situations which can include positional, structural, or economic reasons. If a tooth is impacted, prevented from growing into their normal position in the mouth by gum tissue, bone, or other teeth, extraction is an option. Impaction is a common reason for the extraction of wisdom teeth. Extraction is the method that will prevent further problems. Teeth may also be extracted to make more room in the mouth prior to the installation of braces or other orthodontic treatment, or because they are so badly positioned that straightening is impossible. Extraction may be used to remove teeth that are so badly decayed or broken that restoration is no longer a viable option. In addition, patients sometimes choose extraction as a less expensive alternative to filling or placing a crown on a severely decayed tooth.
Adult Hygiene Appointments
Your professional dental cleaning performed by our dental hygienist will start with a thorough oral cancer screening. That will be followed by a gentle removal of tartar and plaque from your teeth, especially near the gum line where it tends to collect. Our hygienist will then polish the teeth which will buff away the plaque and remove stains, leaving the feeling of wonderfully clean teeth. At the conclusion of your cleaning, fluoride is a great way to further protect your teeth from decay, even as an adult.
The appointment will end with an evaluation of digital x-rays and an exam by Dr. Jalali.
Digital X-Rays
One of the biggest advances in dentistry is the evolution of x-ray technology. Digital x-rays enable our staff to view large images displayed on a computer screen versus the small images of traditional x-rays. Digital x-rays provide Dr. Jalali with a higher image resolution and increased diagnostic capabilities. Additional advantages include lower radiation exposure, the convenience of easily transferrable records and reduced chair time.
Children
We welcome children of all ages at Long Lake Family Dentistry and endeavor to make their visits as educational and encouraging as possible. We understand that visiting the dentist can sometimes be an overwhelming experience for your child. We encourage you to bring your child in 10-15 minutes before their scheduled appointment to get comfortable with the surroundings. During your child’s visit we will examine your child’s teeth, mouth and gums for signs of tooth decay or any other problems. We may take x-rays to see whether facial bones and teeth are developing correctly and to find any hidden decay. We will provide a thorough cleaning and fluoride treatment, ending with an examination by the doctor. We will work with you to ensure that your children are given the best dental care in a warm and caring environment.
Sealants
The pits and grooves of your teeth are prime areas for opportunistic decay. Even with regular brushing some of these intricate grooves can be missed. This is where sealants come in. Sealants are thin coatings of resin that are applied to the chewing surface of teeth to prevent the intrusion of bacteria and decay. Sealants are very effective in the prevention of tooth decay and are widely used in children.
The process of applying sealants begins with the dentist etching the surface of the tooth with an abrasive substance, which allows the sealant to better adhere to the tooth’s surface. After the sealant is applied, a light source is directed on the site to set the material. Sealants usually need to be applied every five to ten years.
